Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
The M&E assistant is responsible for maintaining the database, collecting, analysing, and supporting in monitoring and evaluating data of the activities implemented under different programmes/projects, while ensuring the efficiency of the established data collection systems. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Under the direct supervision of the MEAL Coordinator, the M&E Assistant will be responsible for:
  • Overseeing INTERSOS database, and continuously improve the database system to enhance its ability to demonstrate INTERSOS needs and porgramme requirments.
  • Working in close collaboration with internal counterparts to strengthen the quality and consistency of data collected, and addressing any technical issues in the database and reporting back to IT focal points at local and global levels.
  • Training staff on proper data collection practices, increase awareness on the importance collecting quality data and encourage accountability for demonstrating results.
  • Supporting in planning and implementation of programme activities based on criteria and beneficiary needs and status (e.g develeopnig Cash Distribution lists, etc).
  • Utilizing database to generate monthly progress reports that are used for future programming.
  • Conduct periodic data analysis to identify immediate needs of beneficiaries, and use in future programming.
  • Generating weekly beneficaries’ lists and distributing to relevant teams. 
  • Supporting in conducting M&E exercises this includes; conducting focus group discussions, interviews, PDMs, reporting on ActivityInfo and programme logical frameworks.
  • Train staff on proper data collection practices, increase awareness on the importance collecting quality data, and encourage accountability during the process of data collection.
  • Building capacity of staff on basic MEAL to increase awareness on the importance of monitoring and evaluation.
  • Collecting, preparing, compiling and sorting documents for data entry from different source, and checking source documents for accuracy and verifying data and correct data where necessary.
  • Preparing monthly reports on system performance and problems.
  • Perform any other tasks as required by the line manager/ supervisor.

  • Ensure maintaining high confidentiality of information, up to date documents, including processes and verification.

Training:
  • Advocate and plan for professional development for yourself.

Working Relationships:
  • Proactively engage with your supervisor and key staff.
  • Proactively engage on a regular basis with your supervisor to develop working networks to seek advice where needed.

Representation:
  • Represent INTERSOS in a positive and professional manner to contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of INTERSOS mandate, ethics, values and stand-point with regard to other actors.

Security:
  • Ensure the application of, and compliance with, security protocols and policies of you and your supervised staff.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.

Professional experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in NGOs.

Professional requirements
  • Strong understanding of the humanitarian emergency operating context, the humanitarian system and its flexibility, donors and their high demanding, security and financial management in humanitarian context.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Access, and data visualization programs.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Ability to work under pressure to accomplish work tasks within assigned time periods.
  • Good communication skills, and positive attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills both Arabic and English
  • Excellent planning, reporting and administrative skills.
  • Highly able to keep confidentiality.
  • Readiness to commit and adhere to the values, mission and vision of INTERSOS.

Languages
  • Arabic Language
  • English Language is mandatory

Personal requirements
  • Strong team spirit, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to work and adapt in different environments.
