1- Capacity Building Officer

Location:        Irbid/Kfarsoum
Reports to:     Project Manager 
Type:              Full-time, Project
Travel:            Yes, 50% of time

Position pending. January 2020 anticipated start date.

The Near East Foundation (NEF) is seeking candidates for a Capacity Building Officer to be based in Irbid/ Kfarsoum, Jordan. 

For over 100 years, NEF has worked to build more sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive communities in the Middle East and Africa through education, governance, and economic development initiatives. NEF’s work is organized around three program areas: Peacebuilding through Economic Cooperation, Inclusive Economic Development, and Climate Resilient Development.

Position Description:
The Capacity Building Officer is expected to assist in the implementation of business skills training, vocational training, data collection and partner’s capacity building for a program that aims to reduce vulnerabilities to social protection risks for highly vulnerable Syrians and Jordanians and improve livelihoods and business scalability for Jordanian entrepreneurs through civil society-led, center-based interventions that are tailored to individual needs and include financial support, training, coaching and peer mentorship, and support networks.  Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Capacity Building Officer will have the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
·       Support in developing training materials and delivering training and capacity building activities;
·       Evaluate effectiveness of training delivered, reporting on results and making recommendations;
·       Write technical reports for technical training outputs;
·       Amend and revise programs to adapt to the work environment, as necessary;
·       Coordinate with partners to identify training needs and opportunities; 
·       Assist the Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator in the collection of information in accordance with the project’s monitoring and evaluation strategy and action plan;
·       Provide logistical support to the capacity buildings activities; 
·       Support other NEF’ activities as needed.

Qualifications:
·       University degree in social sciences, management, or relevant fields;
·       Two to three years’ relevant experience in developing, organizing and delivering training and capacity building activities;
·       Relevant experience with humanitarian and/or development organizations (international NGO experience preferred);
·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office package (Excel, Word, Outlook);
·       Strong verbal and written communication, consultation and interpersonal skills; 
·       Excellent facilitation skills; 
·       Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment; 
·       Ability to live and work in Jordan without company sponsorship.

Contract Duration: 12 Months
Position pending. January 2020 anticipated start date.

Position Description:

Responsibilities:
  • Assist entrepreneurs to develop a domestic economy management plan; 
  • Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, master trainers & local partners;
  • Assist with the identification of new entrepreneurs to participate in the Incubators; 
  • Assist with screening and evaluation of applications;
  • Design and manage Incubation and one-on-one mentorship program;
  • Provide high-quality coaching and advisory support to entrepreneurs;
  • Qualify and evaluate applicants for creativity, innovation, acceleration and investment stage;
  • Manage the day-to-day interaction with entrepreneurs participating in the incubator;
  • Ensure tight management of milestones and progress of entrepreneurs and start-up businesses; 
  • Recruit and assign coaches and technical mentors (master trainers);
  • Support the development of entrepreneur’s profiles and case studies; 
  • Support periodic reporting to funders and donors;
  • Organize training programs through workshops, mentorship, networking etc.;
  • Support other NEF activities as needed.

Qualifications:
  • University degree in Business Development, Economics, Business, Education, or related field;
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in Business Development;
  • Relevant experience with humanitarian and/or development organizations (international NGO experience preferred);
  • Ability to use known business analysis tools to identify problems and to propose solutions;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package (Excel, Word, Outlook);
  • Strong verbal and written communication, consultation and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience delivering training and curriculums; 
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Ability and commitment to work and produce results with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Flexibility in accepting work assignments;
  • Ability to live and work in Jordan without company sponsorship.

3-  Local Associate

Location:        Irbid/Kfarsoum, Jordan
Reports to:     Financial Services Officer 
Type:              Full-time, Project

NEF’s work is organized around three program areas: Peacebuilding through Economic Cooperation, Inclusive Economic Development, and Climate Resilient Development.

Position Description:
The Local Associate has the responsibility to ensure smooth and quality implementation and proper documentation of the objectives and activities. The Local Associate is expected to assist in the daily activities for a program that aims to reduce vulnerabilities to social protection risks for highly vulnerable Syrians and Jordanians and improve livelihoods and business scalability for Jordanian entrepreneurs through civil society-led, center-based interventions that are tailored to individual needs and include financial support, training, coaching and peer mentorship, and support networks.  Under the supervision of the Financial Services Officer, the Local Associate will have the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and evaluate program activities and field work;
  • Supervise and manage a team of volunteers to ensure project activities are implemented as outlined in the work plan;
  • Assign tasks to staff members and volunteers and provide follow up and guidance;
  • Contribute to establishing and implementing operational work plans, setting clear targets and activity plans per activities/trainings in direct coordination with NEF head office and partners;
  • Maintain continuous line of communication with NEF head office on daily basis;
  • Ensure smooth exchange of information between partners and volunteers’ program, beneficiaries, and the community;
  • Provide technical support as needed;
  • Contribute to ongoing field assessments and data collection and entry as/when required;
  • Ensure data are accurately collected, entered, and shared on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis;
  • Provide information and advice on existing services for beneficiaries and walk-ins at the Siraj center;
  • Collaborate with partners and other agencies when required;
  • Compile relevant information on available services in assigned location;
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate distribution of materials when needed;
  • Maintain records, report problems or concerns to NEF’s head office and program partners;
  • Support other project activities as needed.

Qualifications:
  • University degree in Social Sciences or any other relevant field;
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in community mobilization for international NGOs;
  • Familiar with report writing;
  • Familiar with the cultural, socio-economic and political environment in the relevant districts;
  • Knowledge of basic IT tools, in particular MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to live and work in Jordan without company sponsorship.

Contract Duration: 12 Months
